The aim of the experiment is to isolate buccal cell deoxyribonucleic acid from cheek cell and use Polymerase Chain Reaction to determine the sex of the individual. The properties of deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid are studied using agarose gel electrophoresis. The purity of the DNA sample is assessed by using micro- volume spectrophotometry.
